Constitution Amendment Election

A Special Election has been called by the Student Government Association which will be held online through UTB/TSC Blackboard (http://myutbtsc.blackboard.com/) starting Monday, March 30, 2009 at 9:30 am and ending at 12:00 am on April 1, 2009.  

Students will be voting on an amendment to the Student Government Association Constitution. Students who have any questions regarding SGA and the voting process should contact the SGA Advisor, Mr. Martinez, at (956) 882-7152 or email him at sergio.martinez3@utb.edu.

It is the mission and purpose of SGA to promote unity and a more democratic process in our upcoming elections. The amendment states that, “the statement in Subsection 3 of Article I, Section 3, should be removed from the constitution.”

The SGA Constitution statement for Subsection 3, Article I, Section 3 is stated as:

ARTICLE I NAME AND MEMBERSHIP Section 3. Eligibility to Hold Office A. Officers 3. Candidates for President and Vice President of Administration must have served for at least (1) complete semester as a voting member of the Student Government Association.

The question on the ballot that is being asked is:

 

1.Do you approve that Subsection 3, Article 1, Section 3 be removed from the SGA Constitution?


In order to cast your vote, you must be a registered UTB/TSC student.  Students must log in to their UTB/TSC Blackboard Account (http://myutbtsc.blackboard.com/), then scroll down to section “organizations in which you are participating in.”   Students should click on the link “SGA Constitution Amendment Election” or the banner ad to the right announcing “SGA Constitution Amendment Election”.  Once inside the main election page, click on the “Vote Here” link, and cast your vote.
